Quick Overview

Ages 11+

Study the anatomy of seven different preserved animal specimens as you work through the hands-on animal dissections in this kit. It's a unique & memorable way to see how internal organs fit together!

Product Description

Equip your middle school and high school students to study life science and the anatomy of seven different animals! This animal dissection kit will deepen their understanding of the life cycle and physical science.

This complete animal dissection kit includes all of the dissection supplies you'll need, including: a 17-piece tool set (containing scalpel handle, 3 scalpel blades, dissecting scissors, teasing needles, stainless steel forceps & more), 7 large-size preserved animal specimens, a reusable dissection tray, and "How to Do a Dissection" guides for each of the 7 dissection specimens.

The 7 specimens in this animal dissection kit include:

  • A Clam
  • A Fish (perch)
  • A Crayfish
  • A Starfish
  • A Grasshopper
  • An Earthworm
  • A Frog

All of the animal specimens in this animal dissecting kit are plain without latex injection in the veins. This animal dissection kit includes all seven specimens conveniently packaged together in one bag, which also cuts down on your cost. We love win-wins!

Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and then with a glycol solution to produce an easy-to-work-with, low-fume specimen that won't decay over time if properly stored.

HST Specimen Guarantee

In sealed, original packaging, our preserved specimens are guaranteed to remain fully preserved and free of decay for six months from the date of purchase.

Once the original package is opened, use specimen within one month. For best results, observe the following storage procedures:

  • Store animal specimen in heavy-duty, zip-lock bags to minimize drying between dissection times.
  • Specimen will slowly dry out or become contaminated in zip-lock bags; add a teaspoon of Specimen Holding Fluid to retain moisture.
  • Freezing or refrigeration is not necessary and may damage fragile tissues. (Good news, since you probably don't want these in your fridge!)

WarningWARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Formaldehyde, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, and Methanol, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
